Motorcycle license class
Learn which motorcycle licence classes Motion Rental accepts, including international licences and when NAATI-certified translations are required.
To rent a scooter from Motion Rental, you must hold a valid motorcycle or scooter licence that matches the engine size of the vehicle you choose. If your licence is not in English, a NAATI-certified translation is mandatory. An International Driving Permit (IDP) can help with translation but never replaces your original licence.
Accepted licences
You must present a valid motorcycle licence that matches the class of scooter you intend to rent. If your licence is not in English, you must also provide a NAATI-certified translation.
Note: Choose the correct class for the scooter’s engine size.

International Driving Permits (IDP)
An IDP helps translate your foreign licence into English but does not replace your original licence.
-
Carry both documents – Always carry your original foreign licence with your IDP.
-
Use for translation only – Treat the IDP as a translation aid and convenience document.
-
Check validity – IDPs are usually valid for a limited time, often 3–12 months depending on visa and state rules.
-
Prefer certified translation for long stays – For longer stays or additional services, a NAATI-certified translation of your licence is preferred and may be required.
